How to make your own tarot deck with ChatGPT
You can make your own Major Arcana tarot deck in ChatGPT by generating each card's picture with ChatGPT's image generation and letting the Kinarcana plugin keep the 22 cards together, add the frames, numerals and names, and print the finished deck. Every card starts as a gold emblem, so you can make as many or as few cards as you like, in one style, with yourself or people who agreed to be on the cards.
Make a personal tarot deck in ChatGPT
- Start the deck. In ChatGPT, say “Make me a tarot deck with me as every card”. Kinarcana shows 22 framed cards, all starting as gold emblems.
- Pick a style and a face. Tell ChatGPT the look you want (woodcut, watercolour, Art Nouveau…) and attach a photo for the face if you like. Keep one style for the whole deck.
- Make a card. ChatGPT reads Kinarcana's description of the 1909 composition (fully clothed), makes the picture, and hands it to Kinarcana, which checks and frames it.
- Repeat for the cards you care about. Say “Make The Star next”. Cards you skip stay as emblems, so the deck is always complete.
- Draw and print. Ask for today's card, or say “Order my deck printed” to get a checkout link for the printed deck.
What a good card picture looks like
These are the rules Kinarcana gives ChatGPT for every card:
- Portrait, 2:3 (for example 1024 × 1536).
- Every figure fully clothed; nothing suggestive, no gore.
- No words, letters or numbers anywhere in the picture: Kinarcana adds the frame, the numeral and the name.
- Keep the main figure toward the centre, with a little room at the edges.
- Keep one style for the whole deck. If no style was chosen: hand-inked outlines with flat watercolour colours, like a 1909 tarot illustration.
- Use a face reference only for the user or someone who agreed to be on the card.
Ways to make a custom tarot deck
Several routes work; they differ in how much of the work you do.
| Kinarcana in ChatGPT | Draw or generate, then lay out yourself | Blank tarot deck | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pictures | ChatGPT's image generation, from each card's 1909 composition | Any tool you like | You draw on the cards |
| Frames, numerals, names | Added for you, the same on every card | You design them | You write them |
| Print files | Made for you at the printer's size | You export 22+ files at 900 × 1500 px | None needed |
| Printed deck | Order from the plugin; $29 with US shipping | Upload to a printer such as The Game Crafter | Bought blank |
Use it in ChatGPT
Kinarcana is a ChatGPT plugin. Try saying:
- “Make me a tarot deck with me as every card. Start with The Fool.”
- “Put my partner and me on The Lovers card, in the style of an old woodcut.”
- “Draw my Kinarcana card for today.”
Questions
- How many cards do I have to make?
- None. All 22 start as emblems and the deck can be printed as it is; most people make the cards that matter to them.
- Can I put my partner or friends on the cards?
- Yes, if they agreed. Pictures must be fully clothed, not suggestive and not graphic; Kinarcana checks every picture before framing it.
- Can I make the 56 Minor Arcana too?
- Not yet. Kinarcana makes the 22 Major Arcana and a title card.
- Does it cost anything?
- Making cards and drawing a daily card cost nothing in Kinarcana. The printed deck is $29 with US shipping.
